30th September 2008 : 'Precious' chosen for the WOW Film Festival
Congratulations to Cinematographer, Natalie Klein Schiphorst, and her crew on the success of Precious. The colour photos were taken on the 'Precious' set and the black and white photos show Natalie working as cinematographer on the set of Romila Kulenthran's 'Once More'. It's always nice to have your work appreciated by others and the hard work and dedication on all their major productions has been instrumental in our 2007 graduates being so successful in finding work in the film and television industry.
23rd September 2008 : Unfortunate
While shooting this film I learned how important it is to have good communication with all the crew and cast. The better everyone is communicating the easier it is to produce your creative idea" Rehearsal rehearsal rehearsal, - the less people ask questions during filming the better!
Daniel Martinez, Director, Mexico
11th August 2008 : RED ready in 2009
The 'RED' camera has been added to our production systems for students specialising in cinematography.
Commencing in 2009, second year students specialising in cinematography will be able to choose from the new 'Red' camera system or the traditional Super 16mm or 35mm film camera systems, for use on their major works.
To ensure that they are able to make an informed decision, interactive discussions will take place on how the latest 2K to 5K HD cameras fit in relation to the post production workflow used for various production genre. In addition, workshops will be conducted on all three camera systems.
Students choosing the 'Red' system will be able to monitor the quality of their projects through our full HD edit suite and HD theatre.
Regardless of the system chosen, as usual, full grading will be carried out at 'The Lab', Sydney's leading digital grading and finishing facility.
28th July 2008 : A Pleasant Jingle
Due to the non linear nature of film production, one of my main concerns during shooting was preserving the emotional continuity of the actors coming from one scene and entering another.
To combat this I was always very careful to keep a mental reference of where the performance was emotionally during takes. I think this really made a difference in the edit and the story appears to flow nicely.
Charles Hicks, Director, Australia.
