This course is for people interested in short film making courses for writers. If you have a creative flare and some basic writing skills, you may well be able to use them, along with any spare time you may have, to generate further income and tremendous personal satisfaction.
Better still you may be able to embark on a completely new and exciting film making career in writing for the screen. Our Screen Writing elective training programme will enable you to develop your existing skills, gain an insight into how the writer fits in with the Production Team, and assess your potential in this exciting field.
The aim is to teach students how to write scripts which will successfully translate from paper to film and TV Screens. When you join this screen writing training programme you will be part of a creative team. All APA training programmes are industry based and Writing for the Screen, which is one of our short film making courses is no exception as it clearly defines the link between the writing process, the production process and the commercial outcome.
This programme is based around the following four units from the Advanced Diploma of Screen training package, one unit from the Diploma of Screen training package and one unit from the Certificate IV in Screen training package. On successful completion of all or any of these units participants will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.

CUFWRT08A - Write Narration
CUFWRT02A - Write the Script
CUFWRT03A - Edit the Script

Applications are invited from anyone who has a general interest in film making courses plus a keen interest in screen writing. No previous experience is necessary, but a solid interest in the film medium, a determination to succeed and a commitment to learn a new skill is required. As a normal standard, applicants should have the HSC or equivalent, but a serious interest in the medium and/or demonstrable creativity are far more important than academic ability.
Overseas students should note that it is not possible to obtain a student visa for this course alone, but it can be undertaken by students who have enrolled in one of our full time training.
